Not just another day

Well it is just another day with the exception that my 28+ year wait for a Porsche was realized about 4 years ago and well.....

why did I wait so damn long!!!

anyhow, now everyday is not just another day...but a day in the life of being a part of the Porsche community - and I love every second of it!!!

Track events, Shop talk, buying/selling, meeting people, helping people and being helped by people, working on my car, learning, being worried and sometimes having expensive repairs, and sometimes having free ones....it's more than I ever thought it would be. Just saying, I'm pretty damn happy

Well said Ed! I concur completely, pretty sweet set-up we have isn't it?

Josh D 09-05-2011 09:00 AM

Nice! I'm feeling the same way, only I've owned my SC for a few months. I even look forward to the drive home from work in 110*+ heat, although I do really, really look forward to lower temps so I can spend even more time wrenching and driving the car for pleasure.

Well said Ed. To me, hopping in a 911 is like therapy.

Non-enthusiasts just don't get it.

Heck, I don't even need to drive my SC fast to feel good.

Have had my 930 for 3 years now and its almost impossible to drive it without smiling, looking at it in the garage (my hangout) makes me smile.

I had fun just going to the grocery store in the 993 yesterday.

Another person agreeing with you. I can't take mine out without a big grin ending up on my face. A bad day is made better going for a simple ride in my P-car, a good day is made even better...

weather over here finally dropped down under 100 for the first time in awhile, so I dropped the top. Man, what a feeling....and the sound of a well-tuned beast cruising at 4K rpms just adds to the full sensory overload. I'm easily having as much fun with this thing as I've ever had with my Harleys.

From one PNW resident to another: this kind of post is what keeps me motivated in my search for a good '80s 911.

'Nother plus one.

I've got two kids driving and in college, so including the P-car toy I have 5 cars to manage/maintain. Every once in a while, I think "self, you could sell your daily driver and the 82 SC, buy a 99-01 996 or a later M3 and have a dual purpose daily/track toy" and then a nice day comes up, or I do someAX/track time, or I go to an event of some kind, and I think "hey, the kids won't be around for much longer, this car is WAY TO MUCH FUN" or I meet someone else who was in my dither mode and tells me barring economic need "DON'T DO IT".

So I haven't done it.

I could not agree more. I've only owned mine for a few months and I absolutely love it. I can't wait to start working on it this winter. I'll introduce the car on the forum later today.

Love when a "blast from the past" comes back to the top....

As said, still very much in love with the car...rainy season here in Seattle means I face a lot of water on the highway, wipers are OK but not modern, car is low and gets a ton of spray from other cars, defrosters are "fairly good" and there is no way I am taking the truck to work!!!

VVRROOOOOOMMMM - out of the garage she wakes up every morning ready to show me she can handle anything mother nature throws our way!!

Enjoy your cars....and your families... :)

Ed, I had to sell my 72 911 in 1989 and looked for another for 22 years, always looking but not able to afford it. Last December I saw an ad on this site. It was the right car, at the right time and the right price for me. After so many months in the shop after purchase, I am now enjoying her each day and I, as you, drive her no matter what the weather which happens to be raining in New Mexico today. Love this forum and love driving the different car :=)

ONLY 28 years! It took me 49! But like you, I have an ear-to-ear grin every time I drive it; I've had it for 3 weeks now. Mine looks like yours, a 1987 coupe.

Ed, you and I were in the same boat; we both went from 996's to C3.2's.

I finally "got" what it is all about........and I bet you did too.

ivangene 11-25-2011 11:09 AM

Yea Cory... I got it...now I want MORE !!

I would love to get an earlier car someday...but not as a DD...I think it would be asking alot of it...but more for the enjoyment of the "lightweight days"
