Found in engine bay... what is it?
After using my magnet-on-a-stick to fish out the hex wrench I dropped, I ran it around the engine bay to see what else it would find.
Any ideas what this is? It's 1/2" across and 5/16" tall. The middle seems to be a hard rubber or nylon and there's a split ring around the middle. |

That's the hyphenator- happagenator valve for an '83 Buick Regal. It supplies oil to the muffler bearings.
Seriously though, it looks a bit like the snout attachment of a harmonic balancer puller/steering wheel puller.

We're a big help ...............
I'm going to guess it's a fuel injector seal. I have 8 of them in a "junk" drawer from a 924, 15 years ago. But they aren't metal, they're fiber. Wait for Mr. Walker to give us the real answer. ![]() ![]() ![]()

if it were aluminum, it looks a lot like the CO adjuster block-off plug for a carrera air flow meter, with that metal circlip, but they had no step. what year is the car?

Well, If your car has mfi on it that piece of rubber is a cap that fits on the back of your mfi pump. It covers the little port that you can manually move the pump rack with. I only remember as I just cleaned out my pump a few hundred miles ago.
If you don't have mfi, I suppose it is a titanium kryptonite cookie! Dennis H. 72 911E |

Lee, other than what it is, I think it's more important to know what it's worth?
"Off a Porsche 911 did you say!" It's probably worth a small fortune on ebay. |

I can say with some certainty that the object is a "teddy bear's ars@~ole", well maybe a replacement module.

Looks like a Johnson rod sleeve to me. Make sure it is properly lubricated with Mobil 1 before putting it back on.
