How can I find my dad's old '83 sc?
 

About 6 months ago I was trading emails with the owner of a black sc that I found on the sc registry website. I was begging the guy to sell it to me, and at times he seemed to weaken, but he would eventually snap back to "reality" and try to offer me other ideas not pertaining to his sc, much to my chagrin. One email he stated "why don't you find your dad's old car?" I grew more irritated and said no way, that the car's long gone. I finally gave up after having my hopes dashed enough!


So recently I was thinking about my dad's old '83 (or '82) black sc coupe with the tri toned beige, brown and black interior. It originally had the turbotail, but he had it removed because he didnt like the look of it. He had this car for 3 years before selling it. I noticed that the car started smoking on startup, but figured my dad ragged it out since he seemed to always drive his cars hard! I remember him saying that the engine was balanced and blueprinted

Two nights ago I was going through boxes of my old books and found a couple 911 photobooks, like the ones u would always find at waldenbooks. A small, cropped photograph was sticking out of one particular book, and it was creased in half. It was my dad's old car and it look fabulous. Perfect stance and you could see the sand colored seats. This really piqued my interest, but I told myself its probably trashed long ago. Two nights later (tonight) I looked at that photo propped up on my keyboard and thought maybe I should ask the Pelican guys. So here I am, askimg if anyone can please give me some pointers on how to locate the car. Can the Dmv help? I dont have the serial # of the car, but believe it or not I remember the license plate #!!

I would go to the DMV and have them run the numbers and see if its registered to anyone. I had a bug stolen back in 96 and sometimes i get the numbers ran just to see if its still out there. I even do it over the phone, just be nice.

Congrats to you for great intentions. In most states, you can go to DMV and request "Title History"......So if you have a lic #, but not a VIN, they should be able to l be able to at least let you know the VIN and if it went to another state. If that's the case, you go to that next state and keep it going..........This all takes time, but can be done with a little patience...........Glluck............
