Cis experts help identify part

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315528329.jpg
have been taking the CIS apart to replace the couplers to the runners
I'm not sure what these two items in the picture are and what they
connect to. The things I'm referring to are the brownish orange
plastic thing that looks like it should have a tube into it and the
other is the black tube hanging down from to air box?? THE PICTURE IS UPSIDE DOWN JUST TO COMPLICATE ISSUES new computer not having too much luck
Any ideas? car is a 74 but i have looked at another 74 system from a normal car and it is different mine is a carrera that had a few more horsepower than the regular one and they look different??

What year is the CIS?

"brownish orange plastic thing" is your Cold Start Valve Flange

Here is a pic of the back of my '79 CIS (before I cleaned it up). Hope it helps!

On the early cars that is just a plugged hole if you removed the piece and looked inside. Later injection used it for air flow when cold.

The brownish orange thing is open on mine - nothing connects to it. It is your cold start valve.

I'm not sure what you are referring to with the tube - but there is a drain on the bottom of the air box that goes to a fitting on the front right side of the engine by the fire wall.

The tube I'm referring to is the big black one in the center of the picture coming from the bottom of the cis box thanks

the brown plastic pipe is the cold start valve adapter housing the vacant tube should not be open it was used on later 911 models that have a aux air regulater valve on passenger side of engine between cyl. 5 and 6 your car does not have that valve. the hose coming down from the center of the cis box is a oil drain or vent hose that should connect to a metal vent trap on the other side of the sheet metal (transmisson side) and at the end of this metal tube assy. it has a rubber drain end.
