Thermostat help..
Hi guys,
after reading a lot of different threads relating cooling problems, I'vedecided to go ahead and replace my stock loop oil cooler with a Carrera oil cooler with fan on my 1983 911sc. My understanding is that my stock oil thermostat opens at 240 degrees F and that's probably too hot and that I should replace the stock thermostat with a BMW that opens at 190 degrees F. Does any one know the part number for the BMW thermostat? or is there an alternative thermostat that I should consider. Thanks, Norm |

Norm,
The P/N is 61-31-1-364-273-M323 It is called an auxiliary fan switch and it's in the Pelican Parts BMW 3 series section. It has nothing to do with your engine oil thermostat but what it does is turn on your front oil cooler fan at 190 degrees rather than at 240 degrees ... I installed one on my 89 along with a new seal for the front oil cooler and it made a BIG difference in engine temps ! Cheers ! Phil
