I am going crazy trying to find an honest seller that has carpets for the 1980 SC.
Found some joker online on Ebay, that were selling cheap imitations; good thing that i always use paypal so I was saved from a decent loss. So far i just purchased the floor mats from our host, and they looks pretty good (the passenger side thou doesn't fit at all; i have it in a non conventional position); but now I would like to strip down the old carpet and put a new one. Can anyone give me some reviews and honest opinions about carpet set sellers? I don't mind if they are exactly the same as the original, since i am not doing restoring, but I would like to have something that is a good fit for the car, that does not need patching or tweaking because the size is wrong, and that is good material that actually last more than a year or two ![]() My constant lack of funds makes me skip any shop to do the job (last request was 3.6K for the whole carpet set installation, and from what the guy said, most of it is the cost of the carpet); so I gotta do it on my own if i wanna have it done and save money (HAve seen other posts here regarding installation of carpet and does not seems a hard job; it just requires patience and precision once you start to glue, and most of all needs a good cleanup before installing the new carpet). Anyone can suggest a reliable place where to get carpets? My model is 1980 SC Targa, hopefully it is not too different from the regular coupe set ![]() Thanks!

DOH!
Are these the full sets? Guess that I need a double checkup to my optometrist at this point ![]() Thanks for the reply ![]() Is this the only carpet set sold or is there also someone else that sells them? and how they compare to the one sold at the link? (honest opinion, I think that there is nothing wrong in comparing )

Pelican offers the full sets as well as just the front carpet sets. You may need to go to another page in their catalog. I just posted the first one that came up.
I'm sure there are other sources out there but I have not actively searched for any of them. If new is not in your budget, keep an eye on the Pelican classifieds. I have seen some good looking sets come up for sale in recent months. Unfortunately, they have not been the correct color for my SC. New is NOT in my budget for sure.

+1 for the classifieds here. Post a want to buy (WTB) ad and see what turns up. I paid $100 for an excellent carpet set (complete) that made a huge difference in the look of my interior. Installation is simple. Do a search, there are some great threads on it. Get the right glue, one that can handle the high interior temps your car will see when parked in the sun.

![]() Indeed the price is steep, but I was wondering if in the end is better than buying used carpets....from what i can understand, the carpet can be removed but it gets damaged, so it is really OK to get something damaged compared to the save that you get? I am not really looking for a specific color, since i gotta change the whole interior, but if possible i would like to match what is inside now (cork with black dash and trim) $100 sounds like the kind of money that I would like to pay

I looked at World Upholstery last night and the carpet prices must be buried because I could not find them. From reading their FAQ's about carpet, Sliverknit is what came in the car.
Regarding used, search on posts about installing new carpet. Folks throw the new pieces in a clothes dryer to get them flexible enough to fit and use rubber hammers to fix the carpet down to the glue. It is a real job. A used set would have the shape and lay down easier. |

Just FYI the Targa and Coupe kits are significantly different. Front footwell areas are different due to reinforcements on the Targa.
Be sure to get the right kit. Cooper |
