One of the finest Porsche body guys around here uses this technique:
- Remove the trim strips
- Lay across the back seat
- Position your boot on the inside of the rear window, parallel to the ground
- apply increasing pressure until you feel the window begin to 'pop' out of its rubbers.
- have an assistant handy to catch the window as it is released from the rubbers

I was sceptical, but been shown how to do it, I'm a believer!

I use a similiar technique on the 1/4 windows except I leave the trim in and very carefully pry the inside lip of the gasket off towards the rear off the car before applying my boot. On a reapaint/restoration I would probably cut all the gaskets and replace them with new. They are not that expensive, much easier to get in and your's are probably all hardened anyway. I would recomend against pulling the trim out of the gaskets. It is easily beny and very hard to get straight again.
