Removing Center A/C Vent
 

Since my warped dash is at it's worst right over the center A/C vent I have an idea to affect a tempory repair until which such time as I repaint my car and replace the dash and windshield. However, I don't have a clue as to how to remove the center A/C vent. Tried a topic search but I don't get the text with the posts.
Can someone tell me how to pop that sucker out? Thnaks in advance.

The vent has four tabs, 2 on top and 2 on bottom, that grip the dash. Probably the safest way to get it out is to come at it from the trunk side, which you would do by removing the fresh-air plenum & connecting tube (a somewhat lengthy process), then reaching in with a big screwdriver and gently prying the top down until the tabs clear the lip of the dash-hole and it can be pushed out. You could try just gently prying it out from the interior side, but might be tricky not breaking it. Good luck.

Carefully remove the fins/veins.
Using a flat screwdriver wedge/pry between the outside of the fin and the vent. It is kept in there with a short nipple that is molded into the fin. Keep track of the spring washer ..................

Then you'll be able to see the snaps that hold the vent in. 2 on top, 2 on the bottom. Use a small screwdriver to pry them up. Wiggle the vent out enough to keep the snap keeper out of its seat. Do this 4 times, then pull it out.

Now you have room for your hands to work on the dash .............
