Anything I can do to my CIS while it's out to make it ethanol-proof?
 

I have my CIS removed from the engine right now. I've put new injectors, o-rings, sleeves, and gaskets all around already. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make it more E10/Ethanol-laced-gas friendly? Are there better hoses out there I can change my current ones out for? Is there anything else besides hoses I can change that would make the CIS more ethanol complient? I know there is no looking back, as far as getting 100% gas anymore, so I'm resigned to the fact I need to get with the times, as it were, with my car and the fuel I put in it. Thanks!

Great question! I'm also interested in others' answers for this as I'm in the same situation. I think the ultimate answer is "upgrade your induction system to something else", but I don't want to go that far right now.

From what I know so far, PTFE-lined fuel lines and replacement hoses are a good bet. Are there any seal upgrades possible with the fuel distributor?

As one who has dealt with this on a limited basis... I'd say any current EFI rated hose from a major auto parts chain will work.

CIS accumulator might be a leak area as it is made of black rubber.

Why not test mule it on E85? More HP and cooler running, I'd guess?

I'm all for E85 as I run it in my EFI 930 and love it. However it requires more of it to produce the same BTu and since the CIS seems to run out of fuel delivery around 400rwhp on gas you'll be running out around 300rwhp on E85...

So yes, upgrading to EFI is the short answer. But since you are just talking about E/10 just use a fuel additive.
