3rd brake light question

I have a 3rd brake light bracket mounted to rear window on 82 911sc euro. It must have been added when brought into states. I dont have the light. I ordered one from pelican and it is almost identical but the new bracket uses two set screws to mount light to bracket and mine must have just clipped in. I dont mind putting in the new light but I dont know how to remove old bracket without hurting the defroster. Both the new and the old brackets are oem and they mount with a double sided adhesive tape (that white one about 1/8" thick that has that thin foam in between) I was thinking of heating it with a hairdryer. seems like a dumb question, but would appreciate some feedback

Lou

That's the way I would do it. Plenty of heat with hair dryer, or a little heat from heat gun and a gentle putty knife. Slow and easy.

WD-40 will clean up the residue, follow with windex. "Goo Gone" is good too. Some kind of citric extract. Careful with the heat gun.
