3.2 intake on 3.0
Was starting to think about adding boost to my SC. I'm currently running PMO carbs, and will need a different intake. My first thought was to find a used 3.2 complete intake.
But wouldn't I need to modify the SC cylinders to accept the 3.2 intake manifold? |

It will bolt right up no issue..

bolting right up and actually making it work are two entirely different things.

Depends on whether is a 78/70 or and 80 to 83. The 78/79 intake port diameter is 38 mm vs the Carrera intake runner port diameter at the head at 40+ mm. The intake port diameter on the 80-83 heads is 35 mm. What this means is that if you use the Carrera insulator blocks you will need to chamfer the intake ports on the heads to provide for a smooth transition. The other issue you have to fiddle with is the notch for the injector - she work will be needed here without rendering the port margin too thin.
Another option is getting turbo adapter insulator blocks from Turbokraft and matching them out to the proper intake port diameter (the transition is taken care of within the thickness of the insulator block). Or, you could fabricate your own from half inch thick phenolic sheet. It's doable with some forethought, imagination and fettling. I put a Carrera intake on my 80 SC engine to run Megasquirt while using the original Carrera fuel rails. It's a good challenge but entirely possible. |

Yes sorry should have elaborated.. I agree with the above post. Here is an 81 SC engine with 98mm pistons for my old turbo conversion..

It looks like the turbokraft spacers accommodate the injectors. Seems like this would be the best route to add turbo friendly injection to my SC.

I would get adapters and use a 3.6 manifold. More even flow distribution. Resonance flap is easily controlled using whatever ECU you will be using to run your new boosted setup.
Yes, the same port size matching concerns still apply.
