Static Timing 1970 T
I went through the procedure to static time my 1970 T. When I started the car and put the timing light on, The pulley mark for 30 degrees btdc lined up perfectly with the notch in the fan housing. What did I do wrong ?

Are you sure that you didn't rotate your dizzy by 180?
Not that I think static timing in these cars is ok but procedure is to set the pulley at 0 and then rotate the distributor until a test light just turns on. Then start car and test timing with a strobe light. I usually just test for full mechanical advance at 5000 and let the idle timing be whatever it turns out to be. |
that's basically what I tried to do. When I moved the distributor to get back to Z1 the car runs irregularly and wants to die at idle. I figure that I must have something off in the basic set up.
