I pushed down the manual heat lever on my Auto Heat. Help!

On my way back from the CIncy autocross, I inadvertently pushed down the manual heater lever on my automatic heat control on my 80 911SC. Now the heat won't work and if I try to pull the lever back up it won't stay there. Did I break something in there? Does this lever automatically rise and fall with the automatic herating control?

Help!

Noel

You may have just disconnected the linkage inside the autocontrol box. There is a small plastic panel on the side of the box that can be removed. You may have to take out the passenger seat. Inside the panel, you'll see a control arm that connects to the lever. There's a ball and socket connection that may have disconnected (hopefully).

When connected properly, the lever should rise and fall automatically.

Thanks Bill. I'll look into it tonight. Hopefully I won't have to take the seat out.

if you take the rubber boot off the front, grab a penlight, and assume the pretzel position, you can see the rod, and with a screwdriver you can pop it back on, aided by your other hand thru the side access hole. there's an updated version of the plastic socket that is a lot stiffer, but it's also a lot harder to pop over the ball on the arm.

John,

Your advise worked like a charm. It turned into about a 20 minute job. Most of which was try to assume the correct Pretzel position by moving the seats and shifter around.

Many thanks.

Noel
