Targa Bar - gone to stainless!

I just finished swapping out my targa bar. Thanks to those who have gone before and posted excellent instructions in various threads. Thanks also to the Pelican who sold me the bar off of his '69 tub!

Now - I know when you do this you are supposed to also swap out for bright window trim and surrounds, and I will no doubt be looking to source those at some point. But I actually think it works ok on my Iris Blue '86, I might just leave it.

Love it! I would still pursue silver finish around the windows. You can probably get away with just the trim strip on the back and front windows (if I remember correctly, it's an easy replacement?). Maybe even consider refinishing the fuchs with a satin or polish petal look. Sure looks good with that color of car.

The 74 carrera targa has the SS targa bar and the black surrounds and I rather like the look

We are all just Magpies.....attracted to shiny things

I don't have polished trim, she's a '75, heaven knows what was on there originally.

Love the Iris Blue

I love the polished-petal Fuchs on the '75, sobamaflyer!

Actually, judging from my original 79 Targa that came in the basic traditional chrome package, also the door handles came in chrome, together with the door window frames and the window trim strips. All black trim in 1979 was a more expensive option. I always liked that partial chrome, partial black trim look:
