Not quite a barn find

I found this 1966 Porsche 912 sitting in someones drive way in Mass. The car needs some rust work but I thought it was pretty cool. The idea of an old car that looks to have some history excites me. Most of the car is there and the engine looks like it would run with a little gas and a battery everything is there and clean. If no one buys it I might fix it up myself I am trying to avoid that though as much as I would love to start another Porsche project I have to fight the urge I just don't have the time. This could be a cool project though and a good reason to use my lifts welder and cutting torches The car is posted for sale here on pelican but I figured I would post my find here for amusement as well I know how much pelican Porsche people love the stories about finding old forgotten cars. The car has a custom wide body kit wide deep dish crager rims, four wheel disk brakes, a whole bunch of extra gauges, fog lights, and a few other modifications. This could be a very cool road/light weight track car. Let me know if you want more pics.

I'm all for using factory parts in locations that were not originally intended for, but does that car have a front bumper on the rear?

That's what I'm seeing - bumper and valence from the front on the back. There was never a time, between 1966 and now, where what was done with that car was "cool" or helped it's performance. It was always stupid, tasteless, and poorly done. I'm not a 912 fan, but even I feel sorry for what happened to this poor car.

LOL...never seen magnesium rust like that.
I dont even think that those are real Cragars. They look like off-brand versions

My vote would be Fentons, judging by the spinner.

That cant be a front bumper it wraps around to far. That has to be a rear bumper.

Looks like a total hackjob to me and a rust bucket to boot. Somebody flared the fenders to make it look like a wide body. Run don't walk away from this one.

I admire your guts. My first P-car project was a hand me down 912 that was a lot of work. Lots was learned but I still got through the hard parts. I think I lost more sleep than money. Let's see the progression, although it's gonna get ugly.

Dare I say rat rod project. I've always wanted to do one to an old but beat 911 or 912 and this would be a perfect candidate.

I'm going to get hate mail from the now aren't I

I just finished restoring my 1983 911 sc I dont know if i am ready for this project yet. I'm going to see if any one else wants it first if not Ill start the process. If I do it I will definitely show the progression and If there is a buyer I will encourage the buyer to post their progression.
