MFI Fuel Pump Orientation

Can someone provide a picture of the MFI fuel pump mounted in the rear of the car. I'm converting over to MFI and I haven't been able to find any photos of this installation. At this point, I've got in mounted perpendicular to the centerline of the car. Routing of the fuel lines is unsightly and is coming in close proximity of the trailing arm. I'm hoping a picture of the factory mounting will help with a cleaner installation.

Are you referring to the high pressure MFI pump/regulator or the low pressure fuel pump under the car? I don't have any pics right now but I may be able to take one for you once I get my dig camera back.

I'm looking for a picture of the low pressure pump which I believe is mounted near the torsion tube.

Ron,

Why don't you put it where your 'T' pump was located? That is where the '69-'70 MFI cars had theirs mounted!

Warren,

I thought about that but the PO installed a facet in the engine compartment. Consequently, there were no mounts for the pump at the front of the car. I also had to install a return line to the tank. It looked like there would be more room by mounting the pump in the back.

I have the pump outlets facing the center of the car now. After looking at it again, I may try reversing this and running the lines higher in the tunnel. Currently, all the lines are getting very cluttered following the factory routing for a single pump. I was hoping a picture of a factory installation would clean up the plumbing and provide more clearnace from the trailing arm. I looked in factory manual and it really isn't a lot of help.

Fuel Pump

We just finished putting a 2.2 S engine in a 69T. Went through the same process of running return lines, etc. Put the pump in the engine compartment. Could not figure out how to mount the pump in front. Runs well, no problems. Let me know if you want pictures. Or email me and we can arrange a phone call if you would like to talk about it.

John,

If you've got pictures, that would be great.

On my '69S the "low" pressure pump is located just behind the steering rack, next to the gas tank.
I have a replacement pump (cheaper) in there, and it seems to work fine.
The high pressure pump (fuel distributer) is mounted on a pad on the drivers side of the engine with the drive facing forward.
The individual lines to the injectors are short on the left and long on the right.
Hope this helps.
Bob
