vacuum lines

On my 1986 3.2, can someone tell me the purpose and functioning of the ambient air valve and the restrictor in the vacuum lines by the oil tank, and the "thermo switch" on the throttle body?
Thanks.

The switch on the throttle body activates the idle circuit which controls the idle control valve to maintain idle at 800 rpm.
The restrictor in the oil line prevents oil from entering the air box, and helps maintain a little vacuem when checking the oil level so the engine doesn't stall with the cap removed.
PM sent.
What does the (AAV) Ambient Air Valve do?
