Anyone know of a good wrench to adjust the valves on my 84 3.2? I live in Naperville.

I do most of my own work, but am hesitant to tackle the valves. I am not the most mechanically inclined person, although I did change the sensors with the help of the great threads on the forum.

I bought my Porsche from Midwest Performance - they were very standup on a problem I encountered. They are somewhere in Chicago - I will look for their address. And they do repair work too! If you pm me your email address I will forward you their contact info.

Chris Streit who goes by cstreit owns MotoDelta Motorsports
Call him and if he can't do it then he will tell you who can in your area.

Midwest Eurosports has locations in both Bensonville and Joliet. They are very good people who will look after your car as if it was their own. But they are not the low bidder. Their rates are on the upper end of the scale.

Doing your own valves is not hard just a little tedious. If you can do most basic work on your car such as tune ups, brake services, fluid changes you can do this. Just use the factory tool and follow the procedure in 101 projects. Plan on a full day to get the job done.

Midwest Eurosport is a good choice. Euroquip in St. Charles is also good for the SC and later cars. Tim or Brad will help you there. Chris is also a good choice too. Good luck.

Ps. I also have an 84 3.2. As noted from another poster, should you decide to do it yourself, it's not difficult. Reward yourself with a Hacker Pschor.

Sol's Perfect Power is a good shop, but he's up in Libertyville, not very close to Naperville. You'll have to drive up there and leave your car so it can be done after it sits overnight.

A valve asjustment isn't that diffficult. The driving season is almost over, do the adjustment over the winter. heck, it might be fun to drop your engine and do some cleaning and change out some seals while it's out. Your 84 with the 915 can be dropped with the tranny left in the car. You'll have plenty of time to learn about your engine over the winter, and you'll get over the fear of doing a valve. Take your time and there is plenty of local help.

Or if you just want someone to do it for you, look up Chris "cstreit" and see if he has time to do it for you. He has a shop behind his house near Springbrook.

I think the Chicagoland crew is having a Cars and Coffee this weekend at the Starbucks on Diehl Rd in front of the AMC theater. Good time to hook up with the locals.

Thanks for the input, I will see how brave I am to try the adjustment myself.

I noticed the last coffee on the farm, but unfortunately out of town. Hope to make the next one.

OT sorry...

Souk, is the C&C on Saturday or Sunday? Might be a good event to bring the -6/GT.

Yeah, I have had it at two car shows and it attracted LOTS of attention. It is mostly dialed in now. I thought about running it out to Rennsport, but the fact that it has no heat kinda puts the kabosh on that idea this late in the season. Taking the 71T instead - much more comfy for that long trip, which will be a welcome change from criscrossing the country in my silver 69 hotrod.

Hope to see you Saturday.
