Ignition switch assembly plug

I recently changed the tumblers in my 83 SC ignition switch assembly and when I was putting the unit back into place the little two prong plug that goes into the side of the unit snapped off. I've been driving around without it no problem but I keep wondering what those wires are for. Does anyone out there know? Can I continue driving the car without those wires plugged in?

Thanks
BN

That sounds like the electrical connector to the warning light/buzzer for when the key is in the ignition and the door is open but engine is off--reminding you to remove the key.

Thanks for the reply - the buzzer is not that important to me so I will leave it be.
