I already posted in the '74/5 Carrera thread, but here's a different photo:

I pick her up tomorrow!! 76 Targa 2.7

After sitting in this heated garage for over 20 years she is now mine!! I've seen lots of photos but have yet to see any with the same type of rocker panel and wheel well trim as mine. Anyone know if this trim was original or an aftermarket add on? I'll post some more photos as soon as I set her free.

After years of VW air cooled driving I finally made the leap to a 911. Here is my new to me 74 911 Targa, complete with a 3.2 installed.

Just saw this question - Yes, the bright aluminum wheel arch trim and rocker panels were a factory option. My car had this option (as shown on the COA) but I did not care for the look on a silver car (looks great on yours), so I removed it and replaced the rockers with std painted steel.

I noticed that being aluminum, the rockers tended to get sand blasted and dented quite easily by road debris from the front tires.

Here is my "before" picture when I first found my 1976 911s...sans engine and transmission (oh, and a working title)

Here she is now, not exactly "after" but consider it a "during", I have it running ok, some bits to work through before I paint it. I put in a 1976 2.7 engine to keep her pure.

1974 911

and heres my black non-sunroof 74 hotrod. Light, straight, and rather well sorted. PMO's, sharp cams, lsd, larger brakes, adjustable shocks, and everything else I've learnt is important over the years in early 911's. Basically make it as light as possible, keep it comfortable (ish) and looking clean, and give it reasonable power, brakes and handling. Makes for great fun, takes lots of time, effort and money but then anyone on this list knows that. Hope the photos do the little car justice as I'm no photographer.

Here is mine about to get restored. After learning more about it, appears the previous owner painted it to Guards Red from Bitter Chocolate and added the Turbo look to it. He also added the BBS wheels and painted them red from the original gold color.

Now I'm at a crossroads figuring out what to do. Restore it back or keep as is. It is a 1976 911 coupe from Europe.

I added the third brake light and euro headlights (not seen) and have owned the car since 1990.

That trim was known as the G26 option (luxury) group (or something similar, I think); it was far more common on long hood cars of the early '70s, and was factory (someone could have made reproductions, I don't know about that).

Anyway here's my favorite "ex"... my lovely '77 930:
