Question Any experience of General Development Laboratories?

Does anyone have any experience with General Development Laboratories in Morro Bay, CA ?

http://gdl-online.com

California's not exactly next door to Scotland, but they seem to have answers for those impossible to fix cruise control gremlins.... anyone tried them?

I just got off the phone with Peter at GDL-online.com

He seems like a nice guy. I know, that doesn't mean much.

I called because I need a cruise control cable. It lists for $160.00 here on pelican parts. YES THAT IS JUST THE CABLE!!!

Local parts yards, don't have them.

Peter sells a rebuilt whole actuator for $150.00

Anyways, he said he will talk to his friend, who works on Porsches locally, and see what he might suggest or if he happens to have one.

I haven't taken mine apart yet, but maybe I can just use a mountain bike brake cable.

Good luck.

Thanks Nick - from performing a search on the subject of cruise issues, it looks as if luck is the main requirement for troubleshooting the pesky system.

Looks like it might be worth me giving them a call - it's the usual dilema of trying to work out whether my gradual loss of speed is down to the control amp, Actuator servo or vacuum loss from pipes.

I've had no luck trying to find used amps or actuators here in the UK and I'm still not 100 percent sure which pipes are the vacuum numbers which need checking and whether it's a good idea to pull them and test them (will I ever get them back on .......???)

If it is either the amp or actuator that are faulty it's good to know that GDL exist albeit on the other side of the world at least.....

I think they've got a technical document somewhere on their site describing the dismantling of the actuator - it might help you working out how straightforward cable replacement is - looks pretty standard bicycle equipment to me....

Best of luck and thanks again.
