Lots of fan/alternator questions

So about 2 moths ago i started to hear a rattle from my engine. I was able to trace it to the fan rubbing against the fan housing. I also noticed a few days latter that 2 of the blades had small chips on the edges. This was right before the car went in to storage. I will be heading back to it next weekend and can final get some work done on it. These are the things I am trying to figure out.

I think it is the alternator bushings, thats what many have told me the issue may be so im going to replace them. Does any one have a part number on these things. The car is a 78 911sc, i cant get the alternator part number until I get home next weekend?

What is the best way to adjust the fan belt/are there any special tools I will need? The belt may just be lose?

I am going to remove the fan and housing, most likely replace the fan because of the chips, but i am going to paint them both, what is the best type of paint/ do i need to sand blast them first?

The most important questions is, should i drop the engine to do all this. Will it make it that much easier that its worth doing. If i need to do it, can i drop it with nothing but jack stands?

Does any one have an 11 blade fan for sale??? I would be very interested.

Thanks
Dave

I powdercoated my fan. In my experience on moving parts, unless you have done really fantastic prep work, it has a tendency to flake off. Although if you are sandblasting it or using a wire wheel then it'll have a much better chance making it stick. But a good powdercoat and the paint isn't going anywhere :)

That fan looks great, did you powder coat it your self, or have it done?
