Boge or Bilstein

Hello All:confused:
i hope anyone can help me out here
I was installing the from strut mount (weather sealed monoballs) when i discovered that the right hand side shock strut is green and the left hand side is black.
based on Pelican parts, green is bilstein and black is Boge
How can i be sure which is the correct one for my car?
thanks in advance
regards
Rudy

Make sure it's truly black and not road grime. I thought mine were boges until I found the roll pin at the bottom. The grime was ridiculously thick, and they were completely black. Hit one with some brake cleaner and steel wool to be sure.

yes I am sure
the BOGE word is stamped on it

Well, that IS sure! :) Both work, if the right shock insert is purchased. I'm guessing you probably have Boge strut assemblies - there are Bilstein shocks that fit the Boge assembly, so someone probably just replaced one shock somewhere along the way at some point. You should be able to replace with either, though Bilstein is the preferred choice. If you really want to be sure, find a part # on each one and compare to the Pelican catalogue:

Judging by your facebook pics, I'm assuming you're driving a 3.2 Carrera. Might be a good idea to list your car in your sig, to avoid confusion .

I've remained the bastard child,..as I just installed Boges on the rear (factory) and will soon load Boges on the front, as well.......want to keep her this way.....all will be fine.

BEST!
