does this engine number match this chassis number
G'day all
long story short my engine does not have an original number due to crankcase being replaced many years ago investigation have suggested that the original engine number was 6361760 chassis number is 9116310836 obviously a 76 targa this vehicle was sold out of Sydney and is Australian compliant RHD if i can verify the original engine number i would like to reinstate it any ideas regards Michaelhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1317810562.jpg |
Hopefully this helps. You should have a 76 911 targa S
Fahrzeugidentifikation 911 1974-77 the small s.o means siehe oben (see above) referring to the line above. You need to be looking at the second line of the 76īs |
It sounds like you have researched the original engine number and you'd like a confirmation, is that correct? If so, the only way I am aware of is to contact Porsche and get a Certificate of Authority which should include the actual engine number assigned to your particular car. I say "should" because after reading many threads about COA's, it appears the information can be questionable.
To answer your question in the title of the thread, yes, the engine number you posted fits within the sequence assigned to your car so, in that sense, it "matches." To determine if it is the actual number though, you'll have to get a COA. |
