Really poor idle on warm restart??

My car idles really poorly when restarted "hot". It will surge like it is starving for fuel and may stall. If I give it a little gas it will run smoother. This only lasts until I drive it for 2 minutes or som then it'll idle fine. It idles a little rough cold and really good hot and running.

What gives????

Thanks

Shawn

Hey, my '80 SC started doing the same thing about a month ago. Does anyone have a fix for this?

i have heard that it is the check valve in the fuel pump. what happens is, air gets in the lines, and instead of the car getting gas, it gets air and it sputters around on that. thats why it smooths out after a while.

I have the same problem with my 91 turbo. I am going to replace the fuel accumulator which holds system pressure. Hopefully this solves the problem.

Teh CIS system is messes up. My 78SC does the same thing. When cold it starts fine, but does not go above 1100 rpms on cold idle warm up. When hot is tend to die and hunts. Check the sensor plate for adjustment and also any grime that has accumilated in the air sensor plate area.

I am also interested in the fix.Any help appreciated.

With regards to the check valve, I just put in a new check valve two days ago, because it wasn't starting good "warm", so that isn't it, could it be the accumulator?

With the new check valve I haven't had any problems with the starting, but thats only 3 times so far.
