Racing Question
Ok, I know next to nothing about racing and the rules that govern the sport, so please be kind. But the Le Mans starting list reminded me of a question...
Why don't they race turbo'd 911's at Le Mans and other races? Will they be bumped into a higher, more difficult class compared to the GT3's? |
The turbo Porsches were essentially legislated out of competitive existance by the rules writing committees. Porsche could not financially afford to build cars to a rule which was ephemeral at best. Maliciously written to specificly hobble the Porsches at worst.

what Bill is saying is, that the rules have been writen to hamper Porsche's chances of winning.

If you want further information, check out the rules for different classes on www.lemans.org. It has the specs, such as engine size limits, homologation requirements, etc. Pretty interesting.
