Post Oil Tank

I have an oil tank for sale on Ebay from my SC. I know it will fit cars from 74-89, but I have been asked by some people if it will fit earlier cars (besides 72) Anyone know?? Click on the link for a picture.

It also fits '73 models, directly, the first year of the clamp-on 'S' hose to feed the main pressure pump!

Adrian, Dont think Ill go. My car is not running yet. I have everything squared away on it -FINALLY- except the exhaust from GHL, which should come in by Wed.
You should go for sure now that the P-14 champ -me!- has moved into another class!

Warren, by your statement, im assuming the tank wont fit pre 72 cars?? Or do you know?

Thanks, Marc

What class are you moving to?

I think in P-14 Robert P. is the man to beat for now..?

I need slicks to be competitive. maybe when I sell the VW I will splurge for a set of slicks. I have buddy at Butler Tire selling 17" with tires for cheap and I will use the 16"s Fuchs for slicks... Maybe. I do not really want 15"s even thought they would be better for pure aut-Xing.

We will have to hook up some time for a beer and p-car BS

Later,
Adrian

Mark,

According to numerous catalog refs, the '65 thru '71 models used a smaller scavenge line (19 mm vs later 22 mm) and fitting, and the supply hose is threaded at both ends, which rules out using the later oil tank. It would fit in the car, but plumbing changes would be mandatory, in order to match the engine oil lines.

Thanks for the help Warren.
Adrian, thats funny about R.P. I always beat him by at least 3-4 seconds !(which is an eternity in A-X) His first 4-5 events he never finished ONCE!! Always got lost in the middle! Im actually good friends with him, super nice guy, he does alot for the club. I instructed him at Road Atlanta his first time. I think Ill be moving to either M-4, or C because of the new engine.
Have Fun, Marc

Hello

This tank will not be usable for 1983 on 3,2L.
It also will not fit in any pre 72 car except you make the new cut out in the body.

Hi,

I used that tank in my 67. I had to re-cut the hole which was relativley easy. The hard part is the oil inlet line which I had to get made up to match the differing threads.
But it can be done.

Alan
