Leaking water into Glove Box?

I have an 82' SC coupe and I know that the leaking windshields( I have one) are a well documented phenomenon but has anyone experienced water coming into the glove boxes?
I have an owners manual that got hit pretty hard with water stains and black mold but yet the inside of the box is dry. I also checked in and around the outside of the glove box but can't find where water is entering. Any ideas?

I can't give you any good answer, but my '74 had the exact same thing happening.

Water in the glove box got my owner's manual soggy and mold-blackened, with pages stuck together. I could see where the water level was in the box, but never caught liquid water actually present in there. And, as you also point out, there seems to be no obvious route for the water to get into the box.

An old Porsche rebuilder that I know immediately pointed to the leaky windshield - or at least it was obvious to him that the windshield leaked. Anyway, by sealing all of the windshield rubber with butyl caulk (a messy job that needs care) there does not seem to be any more water intrusion.

However, the only water the car sees on purpose these days is from a garden hose while I'm washing it. Plenty water flows over the car while washing and rinsing and it remains dry inside.

I avoid going out in the rain.

leaky windshield......

in my '80 SC coupe required replacing the seal. I guess the seals dry up after a few years and start leaking. After making the repairs, I put the owners manual and some other vital documents and parts in a zip lock bag "just in case". No more leaks after installing the new seal. Good luck!

Thanks guys. There is no sign that there was ever water in there. I would have thought the liner material in the box would get moldy and smell also but it's bone dry inside and out!

Right, my box was bone dry, too, and not moldy. There was, however, a water-line in it that showed where the water level had been.

Still a mystery as to how the water got in there, but it did.
