Replacement Porsche Hood Emblems

I'm looking to replace my faded Porsche hood emblem on my 1985 Targa. Problem is that I don't want to pay almost $175 for one sold by our host.

eBay has a few and some of them seem to be legit Porsche parts. Others, well...

So my question is this...has anyone had any good luck on eBay for these and if so, who did you buy it from?

Jamie

You might also put a WTB in the classifieds here for a used one.

The value of the $ sucks. Wayne buys parts at the prevailing exchange rate and that cost is passed on.

Jamie,

You're new to this board so we'll cut you some slack, but you'll find that our host has the best prices on most if not all of his parts. If you find another "badge" for less it might well be an inferior product. I think in time you'll find that Wayne gives the best prices and service to his Porsche customers...

Mitch, I know that PP does offer very good prices. I've bought a few things already here and an waiting for a new order to arrive any day. I'm pretty loyal to my vendors.

So I just thought that PP has asking a bit more than I wanted to pay. That doesn't mean it isn't fairly priced. Just in the cost/benefit world, the hood elblem ranks low because of all the money we've dropped in the last few months.

So being the crafty, artsy, do it yourselfer I am, I'm going to attempt to "restore" the current emblem to get me by for a little while.

Thanks all!
Jamie

Best service, without a doubt. Best prices.....nope. There are other places where the prices are significantly lower across the entire parts catalog.

All right, I actually feel the need to jump in here. I have been ordering 911 parts for the past ten years, and have found that prices are pretty close between vendors. Since Pelican makes everything Hassle free, they get my business.

But $175 for a Hood Crest??!! That does seem high. But as stated in earlier replies, Wayne does not set the prices, rather they are based on exchange rates.

In the year 2000 I bought a clutch kit for about $300. Today, they are more than double that. Will we German car folks ever catch a break?

Wayne explained the reason why his crests are so expensive in a thread awhile ago...from what I remember he has a deal with porsche to only sell their crest which explains cost

there are many after market crests that are around 50 that I feel are same quality (I know cause i bought one).

that said I have spent thousands with PP and will continue cause they give top notch service and pricing

if you shop PP prices with other online suppliers PP is almost always cheaper

I will not same name of company I purchased crest from out of respect for Wayne

I started a new thread on my "restoration" of the crest. But here's the end result...

...and a new business is born, good job. I would have gone the artsy/fartsy route myself. Was thinking of doing the same thing with the center caps.
