Doesn't the cylinder head temp sensor give a signal to the temperature gauge?

If your CHT sensor is failing or failed, wouldn't the temp gauge show false readings?

Do you mean the temperature gauge on the dash? That reads oil temp. Different sender.

Temp gauge is for oil. CHT reports back to the ECU if I am not mistaken.

No, the temp gauge just shows oil temperature. CHT sends it's signal to the dme for mixture control.

Ah, I always assumed that was head temp.

Makes, sense as the head probably heats up rather quickly and the oil lags behind.
