H-4's - Paintable Trim vs. Trim Ring Covers?
I have H-4's on my car, with the trim ring covers that can be painted to match the color of the car. You know, the rings that cover the otherwise chrome assembly. Yesterday, I wacked one of the trim rings with the lawn mower handle
, and put a nice gouge in it.I planned on replacing my H-4's, as they're old and tired, and was wondering if anyone has installed the version of the H-4's with the black, paintable trim. Does it look good this way, or are the trim ring covers still superior from an aesthetics perspective? Thanks!!

Hi there,
I would suggest sticking with the snap-over paintable trim rings. They seem to be nicer looking. I just put on a new set of H-4's, and the "black" primer on them does not look like they can be painted over easily. The snap on rings are smooth, like the rest of the body of the car. good luck,

I recently installed Bosch H-4's with the black trim and the trim ring covers. I do not think the black trim was meant to be painted, but many people apply paint to match their cars. IMHO the car looks more finished with the trim rings installed. The trim rings come primered and are easy to paint. They are mounted with one screw at the bottom.
