Top gear whine
There is a mild whine when in 4th(top) gear in my 930. Stops when foot lifts off gas. Shifts fine,no grinding.
What is it, Fix it, or drive forever? who even repairs 930 transmissions if I chose to ship it? |

Is the whine a recent occurence? Ho w many miles on the drivetrain?
Sometimes, as the bushings in the linkage wear they can cause the shifter to be out of alignment slightly. Have you adjusted your shift coupler recently? If not, I would at least check out the bushings at the linkage joints for wear. Replace as needed and adjust your coupler. My 5th gear will whine sometimes. I do not intend to worry about it. John Walker is who I would recommend to rebuild the gearbox if you don't do it yourself.

At first, I thought you were referring to complaints about the TV show, Top Gear, US version.

Those guys do whine a hell of a lot, but it's probably the R&P.
