69 Targa will not run...CD system is bad??

I have a 69 911 Targa with an off brand (Mark V) CD system that I think has failed. I am looking to replace this with a Bosch CD system.

My question is this - currently the car has the antiquated Marelli distributor (I know...this needs to go at some point too) Will the Bosch CD work with this distributor or do i need to change this out all together at the same time?

Thank you for your input!

the bosch CD will work, if you wire it up like a car that came with it. see a wiring diagram for up to 1977. no condenser in that system, so remove it from the distributor if there is one attached. usually the mark V units have a switch somewhere that allows you to go back to coil/condenser if the unit fails.

Thanks John! I think i will remove the Mark V to start with to ensure that the CD is the problem. i have experienced a consistent deterioration in the firing of the engine - specifically missing at various RPM's. I swapped the original Coil thinking that this was the cause. when that didn't correct the problem, i am now leaning towards the Mark V. unless the points are shot. (obviously i replaced the ignition wires and plugs too). Any other thoughts would be appreciated!
