How to read part numbers?

Do the last two part numbers mean anything special? I was searching through my parts list to verify the part numbers before I ordered replacements. The number on my front A/C condensor housing is 901 573 021 00. According to the parts manual, there were two options; one that ended in 02 and one that ended in 03. Does that just mean that I had an early housing or are the parts actually different?

Thanks,

Rich

Hello

The last numbers indicate revision and or to 99% interchangable.
Don´t mix it up with color codes.
Endings like RS or EX indicate repair set or Excange part.

Also, I think that for parts with a right/left (i.e. drivers side/pass. side) choice, the end number is even for right and odd for left. I could have it backwards, but the distinction does exist.
