Waterproof Material?

HI, i have a 1975 with pop out rear quarters. what do i put between the moulding strip that goes under the pop out and screws to the body?
is it a tape or something that comes out of a tube.
When i took it off it looked like some kind of dried up sealer, but its a perfect place for water to hang out.

thanks in advance for your advice, Pelicanites.

Kevin

maybe it is dum dum, aka 3M Strip Caulk?

Butyl tape might be better...

You can remove a windshield with butyl using a wire....
