engine shutting down
I'm new to the Porsche 911 world. 1980 SC, it's been stored for four years. change out spark plugs, fuel filter, oil etc...replace vacuum hoses and had to replace the fuel pump. i drained the old fuel out. the car starts and idles great, i can drive about 1/8 to 1/4 mile and it starts to shut off. Acts like it is running out of gas. I wait for about two minutes and it will start back up and i can wait and it will idle and run great, until i drive it again 1/8 to 1/4. any help for the old man? thanks

Did you replace the little screen in the bottom of the fuel tank?

did you replace the distributor cap and rotor if not it is cheap and worth doing? I could be a leak in one of the fuel lines as well. It could also be the MFI system. Check the spark plug wires, the rubber can wear out. A good friend of mine had his car in storage for a while and a rat crawled in to the intake system and died, you may want to check the intake and make sure you are getting proper air flow.
Regards Dave
