Data Sheet ?

Hello, my name is Witt and I am a new member to this forum.
I just sold my 1970 Mercedes 280SL that I owned for the last nine years. During that time I was a member of the 113Pagoda website and was referred to this site now that I am the proud owner of a 1988 Porsche Carrera cabriolet.
Being a retired VW mechanic and having owned a 1978 911SC previous to the Mercedes, I am planing on doing most of the repair an service myself.
Presently I am replacing a chopped shifter with worn bushings.
My question today is: Does Porsche supply a "Data-Card" or build-sheet as Mercedes does for their cars at the time of manufacture ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, Witt.

There is a Certificate of Authenticity that Porsche Cars of North America will prepare for you.

It receives mixed reviews as to correctness. Here is an thread talking about it.

Edit: Not sure if PCNA covers Canada but last time I checked Canada was in North America.

Hello Witt,

Sorry I can't add anything of merit to what Bob already mentioned - other than to say welcome, beautiful cars!, and keep coming back, as there is a ton of info these guys can offer.

Don't expect it to be very accurate...like Bob says....

Thank's guys for the wellcome and advise. The main reason for wanting a Data-Sheet is that my newly aquired 1988 Carrera has a monster sound system that takes up just about the whole front luggage compartment. If this was not factory installed at the time of delivery I would have to remove it in order quallify for the collector insurance. I have not tried it out yet and I am sure that I could live without it.
I will try Porsche in Germany, not holding my breath, and will report back.

your sound system is not factory installed

why would you need to removed it for collector car insurance ?

I have coll car insurance with hagerty and they never asked me if my car is totally stock

maybe things are different in canada?

....unfortunatly our government run insurance does require cars to be dead stock in order to qualify for collector car insurance. Any assecories have to be period correct.
But I must say that the rates ( $350.- full coverage ) are reasonaable and other than having to own another car for daily use and not being allowed to drive to and from work or school, there are no other limitations.
