Another GOOD Optima story
Took a long drive...at least for me since my back injury. Brought it back home and let it sit for 4 days.
Somehow I managed to leave the glove box courtesy light on. Killed my Yellow top. Glad I didn't need to get anywhere. I only opened the door to grab my GPS and radar detector to store inside due to the rain. I notice the dim/low level courtesy light. Since I fixed them over last winter I expect them to work..... Pulled out my Sears digital with the 100 amp setting and my analog one. Zapped it for 10 minutes at 100, switched chargers did the 15 then 2 amp charge. Switched back and forth.... Was able to get it back to a 12.85v indicated at the battery with my Fluke. Please note, the battery is now 8 years old.

Did you try a straight trickle charge and it just sat there?
I thought the latest Optimas didn't have to go through the "high-current->-trickle charge" routine like earlier versions? And why a yellow Optima? BTW, my first Red Top was good for 9 years. Sherwood |

It was flat that each one did a 5-10 second charge then went to standby......HAD to do the 100 amp trick.

I've also brought a few back with an old-school battery charger. The new "smart" chargers just sit there blinking, trying to tell me the battery is bad.
