gear box oil

I'm thinking off changing the oil in my gearbox. Any guys out there, especially in the U.K. done this job them selves, if so did you use synthetic oil(what make of oil used) and did it make a big difference to the gear change either hot or cold?
My car is a 3.2 carrera with G50 gear box.

I have synthetic oil in my 915 gearbox, but I have no idea what works best in a G50. Do you know what's in your's now?

I used Valvoline Synthetic in my 87 Carrera with the G50. Shifting is much smoother now.

Redline for my G50 and is smooth and quiet (relatively)
