Brand New Collapsible Spare

The wife's new soccer mom SUV 2011 VW Touareg Tdi. Yes, your eyes aren't deceiving you that's a collapsible spare.

Stock rims are 20". Thanks VW but unless I'm stuck out in the middle of the dessert I'm calling AAA.

Just that I thought that I'd never see another spare like that besides in a 911. Maybe now replacements for the collapsible spare in our 911s won't be so unattainable since VW is still making them?

I don't know why everybody hates the space saver spares so much. Mine has always worked great.
Do you guys need the parts counter kids to install your wiper blades also?

Unless I'm mistaken the problem with the space save spare is that it is rotting away and no longer available.

As for the one in the tourag, I also fail to see how this helps. Is it the right bolt pattern / bore / offset / circumference to fit an old 911?

My 300zx also had the collapsible spare, but Nissan provided owners with a can of essentially fix a flat to inflate the spare.

Audi A2 has the same sized collapsable spare as the early 911's

The bolt pattern doesn't really matter.

If the spare tire itself is the right size (or close enough to be useable) it could be removed and mounted on a 911 spare wheel.

5/120mm for R5 2,5L TDI, 5/130mm on V6, V8 and V10.

I was told that all new version of the VW Touareg have the 5x130mm - so essentially this should be the 5/130mm version and SHOULD fit the 911 - and for folks like me - SHOULD fit over bigger brakes too...

mine's from a 996 turbo

Touareg bolt pattern is 5x130 but spare is 195/75R18, about 4" taller than 205/55R16.
