Back in college I had a 70 Cuda with 440-6, shaker hood, 4spd and Dana 60. One of my classmates had a late 60s 911 and wanted to drag race me. We marked off 1/4 mi of the road in front of the AF Academy stadium and raced. I left his 911 in the dust on the dragstrip...of course he'd smoke me on the curvy mountain roads. I would not suggest drag racing your 911 unless you like doing expensive repairs. Our cars are not designed for that type of abuse.

I have only competed at two 1/4 mile events, It is quite addictive even when you get left for dust. Several people have told me to be careful about the damage caused by launching it and also the g/box problems with shifting too quick. If you listen to the revs on that run you can hear the clutch slipping..... so I will be thinking twice before I run again and stick the the track day's that i usually do. I know that my car is a bit of a bastard with the later engine and running gear. However it was a race car in a previous life and was the perfect base to build a car that has the versatility I wanted. I will listen to your advice as the last thing I want is a dead car. Yeah I know! Thats what happens when you work with a guy who posted the clips........... Nothing I can do about it.
If I say anything to him It will get worse I am sure....... I know he is waiting for me to say something but It will be a cold day in hell before that happens.... he he he. It will be funny when I do the same ( worse ) to him. He will go crazy..... my vids are at notthatinterested's Channel - YouTube |

Anybody here care to run against a Bullitt Mustang? That's the Bullitt in the near lane. ![]() 20111002114957 - YouTube 10.32 at 135.56 MPH pass .........not bad for a street driven heavy pig with a few bolt-ons...

For $hits and giggles I raced my brother in his lightning a couple of years back. I was a few car lengths ahead.
We played around at the El Toro airstrip a couple of months ago with his e63. I got him on a rolling start and he got me on a standing start. I have the advantage of the motor on my rear tires but he has launch control a d paddle shift. I was impressed with the capabilities of my old long nose. Again it was just for fun. |
