Wiper switch wiring help please

I am spending the winter restoring my 85 carrera....first order of biz.... I took apart the steering column to fix the high beam switch and found this wire just hanging there. It goes into the back of the wiper switch. I think it is for the windshield sprayers....but not sure.....any help ? what is it? where does it connect to?

Does it go into the back of the wiper switch? I would say that's where it belongs then.

its coming out of the back of the wiper switch and just hanging there

I see no brown wire coming from the wiper switch. Here is the Bentley manual diagram that will probably be too small for you to see in detail. Pelican compresses it when posted as a jpeg. PM me your e-mail and I will e-mail. Edit: Looks pretty good, actually.
