77 tank will fit in 69?

Hi,
Wondering if fuel tank from 77 Targa will fit in 69 911t.
And since on subject I'm wondering what else might be compatable. (neighbor crashed his 77,I'm fixing up a 69)
Thanks,
Sam

Tank will fit but you will have some adjustments to make. The 77 tank is larger and you will not be able to use your full size spare tire. It also has the fuel ports in different locations and, I believe, uses different attaching method for the fuel lines. These mods are relatively easy to do and have been done by many.

As far as other parts, in general the body of the 77 is nearly identical to the 69 so many panels can be used easily--doors are interchangeable as are windows (but only if your car is also a Targa), front fenders, lights (headlights and turn lights), rear deck lid (though you'd need to modify the underside for the license plate lights), front suspension and brakes, rear suspension and brakes, and many other smaller parts and some interior parts. Many parts will not be period correct so if that's an issue, keep it in mind.

Thanks Ossiblue,
That's all good to know.
I wonder if fuel gauge will still be accurate with larger style tank?

It should be. They didn't change the tank depth I don't believe, only made more area around the spare to increase capacity.

Pelican uses the same sender part number for the early and later tanks. You should be OK there.
