front sway bar through the body ... what have i got?

project is moving forward ... too slow for my liking, but what's new :p
time to sort out the front sway bar. 19MM bar was purchased a few years ago.
the bar ends (where they mate to the drop links) appear to be 16.5 MM. tried mounting stock type units, but they measure 17MM & won't compress enough to hold securely. the top unit pictured here appears to be the match for the bar, but it's unclear how the drop link mounts to the stock "U" tab on the A arm. it's too narrow. do I fill in the void w/ washers ? (seems hokey) don't have a shot of the U tab, but can post one.
any help appreciated.

They make rod end spacers just for this, and you can crimp the U tabs a little as well.
One other thing, I ran mine without crimping or without spacers for years and if you don't mind the rattle it makes at times, then it will be ok. I just added spacers and for the first time in years, no more rattle.

The top SB arm and drop link are Weltmeister components. Rod end spacers, one on each side, centers the rod end in the U-tab on the control arm.

The two lower SB arms appear to be factory arms. The lower-most arm is as supplied from the factory (usually not painted black). The middle one appears to have been modified/reinforced/repaired. The opening to clamp the sway bar end is now formed by add'l metal welded within the square.

Hope this helps,
Sherwood
