Spoiler ID please! 1977S all-rubber spoiler?

It's on a 1977 911s. Looked at it/drove it today. Probably going to pull the trigger if the PPI goes well.

What spoiler is this? I can't say I have seen one before.

It has this underneath it, I assume it's the AC system that no longer works:

It would be awesome if it was an oil cooler, but I don't think that's the case.

That's the factory all rubber (PU foam) tail. A very heavy piece.

The other thing is an A/C condenser.

I could tell it was heavy when I opened the hood.

I'll lose some weight by getting rid of the condenser.

Lose the whole lid ! there are plenty of nice second hand fiberglass spoilers on the classified page. Though factory, that p/u all rubber spoiler is ahem... less than desirable

not one of their better styling ideas

Lose the compressor as well plus all of the other crap that goes with the air con .
You will notice the difference.
Richard.

Operational 1977 AC's suck
Remove it or upgrade for a few thousand $

A Carrera front spoiler and a decent rear tail keeps the car planted, especially at 70+ mph. The car is doable at speed without them but a lot of work especially on a 2 lane when a big rig passes you going the other way and your car just about gets lifted and pushed to the right, even if you have a tight suspension.. btdt

[I never saw that tail before]

I have that tail and I love the way it looks. I think it is THE BEST looking tail out there. If you treat it properly, it will last forever without chipping or fading. And if you remove it, you can save a few pounds and your car will go .0006% faster as you are getting on the highway...... If you like the way your car looks - keep your tail.

Now, removing the entire AC system, that will make a small difference. My AC is not functioning either. But, I have kept the system in place just because I am not ready to take any of her original equipment out. Also, I do not race the car, so, even if I remove a couple of hundred pounds from the car, I don't think I would really be able to tell.

Just my 2 cents.

^good info everyone, thanks!

I think I would pull the AC to free up room in the engine compartment. The weight loss is an added bonus.

Probably use some 303 on the wing for protectant...
