Clutch and accelerator cables

Hi everybody, i am finishing my complete restauration of my 911, and have 2 question about the clutch and the accelerator cables.

The clutch cable is new, bought at our host, but when i installed it, is hanging too much for my taste. Do i need to insert more the cable cover into the exit from the car?

The second one is because the accelerator is not "coming back" when i remove the foot from it. I found 2 little holes 1 in the gearbox and other one in the connecting lever, is that a place for a return spring or something like that??

Thanks,

Ariel

You're positive the cable is correct? The cable should curve upward naturally when installed. Did the throttle work properly before installing the new clutch cable? If so, you probably wound the clutch cable around the throttle linkage (there is no throttle cable). You could try to re-run the clutch cable to be sure it is not wrapped around anything.

First off, nice ground strap. Like stated above, the cable is supposed to have the bend on top not the way you have it on the bottom, and it looks like it might be rubbing against throttle linkage? You can add a spring if you like, but if this just started happening after the clutch cable was installed, then you need to adjust it and set it in the right position.

Thanks, the ground strap is brand new.. the engine have just passed a complete top end rebuild with new rings, valves, chain, and all torqued to factory specs. Just waiting for the first start on saturday i hope.

I can move the clutch cable freely and cand bend it upwards without problem, i've just moved it down for the picture. The cable moves really smooth inside the protector, it's new and bought from our host.

Still have to adjust clutch cable.. going to do it tomorrow according to 101 waynes book.

The accelerator is another problem, it happened earlier to this rebuild. It will return to idle position but let's say, the last part is a "very slow return". I have installed new bushings at the throttles intake, and all the connections moves freely and nothing interfering with it. Maybe the problem is with the spring at the pedal cluster, i have to recheck it.

Thanks,

Ariel

I have a spring which snaps the butterflies closed, but that is because my mfi stacks/linkage are old.

Check on the bushings on the trans and in the engine compartment (right near the firewall).

Sounds good man! Hopefully this clears everything up for you. Don't forget to spray some white lithium grease on the moving parts to keep everything nice and smooth.
