911 Club Racecar on Ebay

Ok Trackcar afficianatos; Comments or critiques on this "diamond in the rough" on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1816071834

1) What features do you like or dislike?
2) What would you do differently?

OK; here are my comments
A) The car is not an E but a TE. There's a big difference. The good news is that it has a 2.4 (7R??? case) engine. The bad news is that it also comes with CIS rather then MFI.
B) What's going on with the body work between the drivers door and the LF fendor? Something looks strange.
C) The cage looks like your standard 6 point bolt-in deal which is the minimum acceptable and doesn't do much for the chassis stiffness.

What do you think?

Porsche Crest Comments

I don't get the classification- it says "I" on the body, which would mean it's running as a 72-73 "T". But the fender flares would bump it up into prepared if they aren't stock for that year-- I thought that the flares didn't come in until the later cars (74+?)

The cage is atypical, with the sharp bend in the door bars before the front hoop. But no big deal, and you aren't allowed to tie in the suspension pickup points in stock.

No monoballs in front suspension-- it's pretty aggressively lowered but would want more details.

The fuel cell install looks a little rough. All my other comments would be cosmetic/aesthetic.

Looks good if it is cheap.

Well you have the "rough" part right... I'd have to see it in person...

Looks like the thing has taken a few good beatings in it's lifetime...

THe cage is bolted to the floor, not the frame, I can't believe that does much good or is even legal...

Wouldn't you clean the interior before posting photos? I would unless the car was a true POS... They are careful to say please review ALL pictures before making a decision... almost as if they are trying to lead you to see somethings for legal issues, but don't actually want to SAY it...

I wouldn't buy it, even at $7500

Porsche Crest

John,

The car is a '73.5 'TK' model ... apparently with a stock CIS engine except for that 'radical butchered' intake snout and the most GOD-AWFUL exhaust I have ever seen on a 'pretend' race car! Why do you suppose they didn't paint that abortion??? Well, at least with the TK engine it probably doesn't need the racing oil cooler I expected to see, or at least see mentioned ... so, I guess it doesn't have one! I guess we should feel lucky he didn't tell us about the great racing cams the factory put in those 2.4 'T' CIS engines!

The guy seems to think he is selling the green paint ... not the hardware underneath! We really needed to see that close-up pic of the cutoff switch, right? Nice chisel job putting it in! How about the EASY access to the fuse blocks? He listed the VIN ... why do you suppose he needed to waste a pic on it? And, how about thoswe great windshield stickers? I guess they help block out the sun at the races.

Nothing about tires, brakes, or suspension ... or any pics, so ... showroom stock ... or what??? I guess the 8:31 915 transaxle would be for Mobil Economy Runs, right? Or, maybe it's a little-known 'unfair advantage' called 'W-I-D-E R-A-T-I-O racing gears!

I suppose it will sell ... I see 'carnut169' likes it! Sounds too steep for a shell with cage, seats, and fuel cell, though!
