Improving passenger leg room in RHD
I know that most of you have LHD cars but I thought I'd share what I have done to my RHD in terms of increasing passenger leg room.
This only applies if you are remving the A/C because as you probably know the evaporator sits behind the passenger floorboard. As I was removing the A/C in my car I thought it was a good opportunity to sort this out. If you've been in a RHD with A/C fitted you'll know what I am talking about. I did some research and decided to buy the Rennline boards for non A/C. The shape of the passenger board is quite different and the profile matches the driver side (ie. the boards are aligned with each other). I really liked the perforated look but wanted to tone down the racer look somehow. I thought the black ones might do this but when I put them in they were still a bit 'hardcore' for my road car. In the end I cut some vinyl (supplied by PP to redo my console) and glued it to the back. This also blocked everything behind the boards that was quite visible with the perforations. In fitting the passenger board the existing factory dead pedal was no good as it is really only half a bracket. I bought some 1.6mm aluminium and cut and bent a new bracket then covered with the same vinyl as the pedals and console. The pics are below but I think it looks much better in real life. I also had some new carpets made up. The colour is slightly different but I bought enough to do the rest when I get around to it.
