Front License Plate Holder...you might laugh...
So here in NorCar, we are "rear-license-plate-only" state. That leaves us free to use the front spot for all kinds of creative displays. I happen to be partial to German plates and ran one my BMW back in the day. I dug it out this past weekend after getting my first 911. Upon finding it, I realized that there was no holder for the front plate on the 911 but there were two holes for a holder. Given that I am a little impatient, but creative I dug through my supplies to find something that would work without requiring a trip down to the local Porsche dealer (Hendrick - no thanks).
I stumbled across a few of these dry wall anchors. I eyeballed then and decided to give them a try. Oddly enough, after a couple gentle twists, they fit perfectly into the holes and they had the added bonus of making the plate sit nearly vertical, as opposed to the "tucked back" position I've seen on cars from other states. To be clear the drywall anchor goes in first and then a separate but smaller machine screw is inserted through the plate or holder into the drywall anchor itself. Low cost and pretty effective. I'll monitor to see if any damage occurs to the front valance, but it seems to be not particularly stressful to the part. ![]() ![]()

Nothing wrong that.
My front plate does not sit vertical.
