SC door handle trigger broken on closed locked door
I searched the archives & can't find any help...here is my situation:
I am attempting to remove the interior door panels but I will have to break some stuff & would rather not... **Is there a work around = how do I open the drivers door so I can remove its broken exterior door handle to repair it...?? (handle trigger is flappin' in the wind...) Thx, Bob |
You can't unlock it from the inside and use the inside door handle?
|
correct...when I turn the unlock knob it goes ~ 80% & even if held there & I pull the interior handle it will not open...turning the inside knob the same amt which is max or I will bend or break something & trying the outside handle, no soap...the exterior trigger is ALWAYS flappin' in the wind...
ALL I can see to do unless someone has a "work around" is to remove the interior door panels which will result in breaking most of them, so I can gain access to the inside of the door...oh...the elect window is 90% closed & does not work so I cannot move it too...arghhhhhh help...... |
That sounds worse than I was imagining.
Sorry I can't be of more help. |
Call AAA???
They may be able to slide a Slim Jim in along the window and pop it open. They would treat it like the keys were locked inside. Might be worth a shot.
Good luck. |
great idea there Sacto S...I hope if that does not work, I can find a NON destructive means to open the door...
Anyone have the answer here...?? Thx, Bob |
If your trigger is toast, you probably need a new door handle. I had to replace both of mine at one time. Passenger side was missing the trigger, and something broke on the driver side. I couldn't get into the car, at all!
After toying with the idea of removing a rear side glass, I thought of something else. Bought a 3/4 inch hole saw and drilled out the lock. You'll probably lose the lock, but I just had a second key for the new handles I put on. Once the lock is removed you should see the push rod, take a screwdriver and push it. |
if you are in the market for some new tools consider one of these before making any rash decisions
General DCS200 Professional Video Inspection System, DCS-200 General- at the Test Equipment Depot there are plenty of others out there for all different prices. This will allow you to see in the door so you know what is wrong before you hack any thing apart. You might be able to knock in to the right piece with this as well and get things moving again. You are still going to have to at least cut a small hole in the door fabric, or find a place to enter but it may be worth if so you dont have to replace every thing. |
